Dietary lipids are macronutrients made up by carboxylic acids with a hydrocarbon tail that hold the largest amount of energy (9kcal per gram) within the nutrients. They play a fundamental role in the body, as they have a lot of different functions, such as absorbing vitamins and minerals, helping in hormonal systems, cardiovascular health, storing energy and more. There are multiple types of lipid molecules, divided in two main groups: saturated and unsaturated.
