BCAA is a group of three ##essential## ##amino acids##: Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. Supplementation promotes muscle gain, ##protein## synthesis and decreases fatigue. It is commonly used by people who have low protein intake throughout the day and by athletes.

Why be Careful

BCAA suplemmentaion is generally safe and without side effects for most people. Recent studies show a possible association between plasma BCAA concentrations and cardiovascular diseases. The chronic accumulation of BCAA in the organism may suppress glucose metabolism, which can lead to a cardiac ischemic injury. Therefore, increasing the risks of cardiovascular complications. There are many cardiac risk related genes, people that have those gene variations must be more cautious about preventive care than the overall population. Besides that, there are also other DNA transcriptions that influence BCAA metabolism, causing some people to naturally accumulate more of those molecules in the organism. That is the reason why people with high genetic risk must be careful with ##protein## supplements.
